Create a Custom Template

Build your own inspection templates using the FixTraq template editor. Available for organization users on FREE plan and above.

Custom templates allow you to create inspection forms tailored to your specific needs. With the FixTraq template editor, you can build professional inspection forms in minutes.

Who Can Create Templates

Template creation is available for:
  • āœ… Organization users with a FixTraq account
  • āœ… FREE plan and above (all paid plans included)
  • āœ… 'Admin' roles within your organization

Note: Individual users without an organization account can use our 1,000+ public templates but cannot create custom templates.

Getting Started

Step 1: Access the Template Editor

1. **Sign in** to your FixTraq organization account 2. Navigate to the **Templates** section in your dashboard 3. Click the **Create Template** button 4. The template editor will open in a new screen

Step 2: Template Basics

Start by setting up your template foundation:

Template Information:

  • Name: Give your template a clear, descriptive title
  • Description: Explain what this template inspects
  • Category: Choose from predefined categories (Safety, Maintenance, Quality, etc.)
  • Tags: Add keywords to help team members find this template

Example:

  • Name: "Monthly Fire Safety Walkthrough"
  • Description: "Comprehensive fire safety inspection for office buildings"
  • Category: "Safety"
  • Tags: "fire, safety, monthly, compliance"

Building Your Template

Adding Sections

Organize your inspection into logical sections:
  1. Click "Add Section" to create a new group of related questions
  2. Name your section (e.g., "Emergency Exits", "Fire Equipment", "Electrical Safety")
  3. Add a description to guide inspectors on what to check in this section

Adding Questions

For each section, add the questions inspectors need to answer:

Question Types Available:

  • Yes/No: Simple pass/fail checks
  • Multiple Choice: Select from predefined options
  • Text Input: Short text responses
  • Long Text: Detailed notes or descriptions
  • Photo: Require or allow photo documentation
  • Number: Numeric measurements or counts
  • Date: Record specific dates
  • Signature: Digital signature capture

Tips for Good Questions:

  • Keep questions specific and actionable
  • Use clear, simple language
  • Include photo requirements for visual verification
  • Set appropriate question types for the information needed
